Maculan Maculan “Fratta” Veneto IGT 2003

An amazing blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot coming from two of the best low-production vineyards. Very rich ruby red with purple hues, very intense scent of red berries, blueberry and raspberry; particular are the notes of spices and hints of cocoa and coffee. The wine is balanced, rich in sweet tannins that blend to give remarkable structure and elegance to the wine.

Package: 1 bottle of 0.75 lt. Location of the vineyard: the Cabernet sauvignon comes from a vineyard with 10,000 vines per hectare in the Ferrata area, while the Merlot comes from the Villa Elettra vineyard. Placing and type of soil: volcanic and tuff hills. Grape variety: blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot coming from two of the best low-production vineyards. Preparation care: manual harvest, careful selection of bunches, fermentation in small steel vats with frequent punching during the eight days of maceration. Aging: for a year in French oak barrels, 80% new and 20% second pass. In the eyes: very rich ruby red with purple hues. On the nose: very intense scent of red berries, blueberry and raspberry; particular the notes of spices and hints of cocoa and coffee. In the mouth: the wine is balanced, rich in sweet tannins that blend to give remarkable structure and elegance to the wine. Pairings: Perfect with grilled red meats and game skewers, long-aged cheeses.

The Maculan Family for Three generations selects and vinifies the best grapes of Breganze, an enchanting town at the foot of the Asiago Plateau with a mild climate that favors cultivation of the vine and the olive tree. The hills of Breganze offer an ideal soil for grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Tai and Vespaiolo and make it possible to obtain high quality wines. The activity begins in 1947 thanks to the commitment and will of Giovanni Maculan and over the years it passes into the hands of Fausto Maculan who, with stubborn and immense passion, brought it to reality current. Since 2007, daughters Angela and Maria Vittoria have enthusiastically supported their father in the management of the company. The company cultivates about 40 hectares with vines and olive trees and directly controls about thirty selected winemakers. The winery is located in the historic center of Breganze and is the scene of the wonderful marriage between the ancient tradition and the most innovative oenological technique. This makes it possible to produce great wines, appreciated all over the world.
