The prestigious “Gavi dei Gavi”® La Scolca® is obtained through the strictest respect for nature, the oldest and most traditional cultivation rules, from pruning to harvesting with a strict and careful selection in vineyards that reach sixty years of age.
In the cellar with winemaking techniques refined in over 90 years of experience, a Gavi model is born that is still unsurpassed: a term of comparison and reference, the result of a long tradition for generations.
A wine that amazes: it contrasts a delicate scent with a strong character and a great personality: a wine suspended in time. Lively and intense, harmonious and balanced, it offers surprising freshness and continuity. The complex hints of flint, almond and walnut know how to evolve over time: a wine with the soul of the child, but the heart as an adult.

Vinification: in white, cold, partly macerated on the skins; left, until bottling, on account of the (native) yeasts of first fermentation or “sur lie”.

Pairings: excellent as an aperitif or throughout the meal; in addition to the typical pairings for white wines (fish, shellfish and seafood) it is not afraid of pairing white meats, noble poultry and light roasts.

The La Scolca® estate was purchased between 1917 and 1919 by the great-grandfather of the current owner Giorgio Soldati, who now runs the company together with his daughter Chiara Soldati, fifth generation with a look at the third millennium. The past and the future coexist in this company that best combines the naturalness of those who have always lived in this world with the speed of those who look ahead with the foresight of brave captains: never as in the case of the Soldati family do names have a symbolic meaning. The name of the plot derived from the ancient place name “Sfurca” or “Looking Away” and the farmhouse that stood there had in the past been precisely a lookout post. The surname fully reflects the proud and tenacious character of the owners and their wines. Giorgio has proved to be a very valid and whimsical innovative interpreter: his is the creation of successful wines and sparkling wines without ever betraying loyalty to the land of Gavi and to the courteous grape variety. But the most difficult task he took on, together with the family, was to maintain the leadership gained by the company over the years, further strengthening the image and the fame of Scolca with an all-Piedmontese will and the philosophy of the highest possible quality.
