Muscat grapes, precisely the “Moscato d'Alessandria” variety, which seems native to Egypt, was introduced in Sicily and took the name of zibibbo, from the Arabic zabib “raisin grapes”. Historically, Zibibbo is used to produce sweet wines, yet its grapes are perfectly suited to the production of excellent dry white table wines, an example is our Taif wine.
