The Gran Selezione is the highest expression of Chianti Classico DOCG. For a few years now, producers have decided to take a path dedicated to quality and have introduced the wording Gran Selezione into the regulations. It represents a type of Chianti Classico born from grapes selected from the company's best vineyards and aged for at least 30 months. The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Badia a Passignano by Antinori is one of the maximum expressions of Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. It is made from Sangiovese grapes harvested by hand at the beginning of October. Fermentation in steel for 10 days, maceration for the same number of days and then refinement in barrique for about 12 months and the rest in the bottle.
BADIA A PASSIGNANO ANTINORI: TASTING
The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Badia a Passignano by Antinori presents a lively ruby red. On the nose its complexity begins with ripe red fruit and then leaves room for more evolved and spicy scents. In the mouth it is enveloping and robust, its light tannins accompany a remarkable persistence. Perfect in combination with opulent meat main courses, such as stewed wild boar.
The Antinori Family has been dedicated to wine production for more than six hundred years: from when, in 1385, Giovanni di Piero Antinori became part of the Florentine Art of the Vinattieri. Throughout its long history, through 26 generations, the family has always managed this business directly with innovative and sometimes courageous choices but always maintaining respect for traditions and for the territory. Tradition, passion and intuition were the driving qualities that led the Antinori Marquises to establish themselves as one of the main Italian producers of high quality wines.
